Sometimes I am not sure what else to do so I try to walk away before I ruin it by over working the process. That is where I am at with this one.

What a fun process. I am looking forward to starting my next. We will see what I come up with. This one is almost finished.

First Attempts

This is my first attempt. I was going to carve these out of clay, make a mold and then cast them in latex to be duplicated. (see above)  I really like the idea of using materials such as burlap, thread and twine to make these masks. This process (see below) will allow me to make them different every time. Thanks Grim Stitch Factory for the wonderful work you do and for inspiring me to go a different route.

The beginning of my Barn Jars. They look like a mess but they are going to be awesome in the dark.

Everyday I have these quite desires of being my own boss again.  What I would do differently   would be not having employees.  It would be just me. No employees and a lot less hassle. It has more to do with just creating art and a lot less to do with the business but....

Anyway, I will figure this out and I will start creating Halloween related items that I can sell. This site will allow me to do this and it is a goal that I will start working on.

I love the security of having steady pay and insurance but something has to give. Let's face it, it won't be my work environment it will have to be me. I feel like a round peg in a square job and although you can shove that round peg into that square, it really isn't a good fit.

Army of the Dead

In the opening scenes where they are walking through the caves and there are skeletons on the ground, those are my skeletons. Most of this movie is digital but they needed some actual skeletons to work with.  I also volunterred to work on this movie.  It was the evening they were filming in the caves so I got to see how it all works.  They filmed at the ABQ Bio-Park in the area they have all of the oversized bugs and stuff.
I got this oppurtunity by volunteering at a haunted house.  That was so much fun. When I took my bloodiest skeleton that I had down to the location that they were going to be setting up the haunted house and told them that I had a prop out in my car that I wanted to see if they can use; the response from them was one that made me feel like I was home.  LOL!   One of the volunteers was in the movie Army of the Dead and he got me connected to the art department of the movie.  Awesome experience, maybe I will get to do it again one of these days.
